Some of the best sensory toys are some of the cheapest. Many are even found in the dollar section of your local Wal-Mart or Target store. Others can be found on Amazon. And yes, these are TOYS, not \u201ctherapy equipment\u201d so they are fun for everyone, whether you have sensory processing disorder or not. (And really, don\u2019t we all have a some degree of SPD at times??? I know I do!) Most of my picks below are in the $5 and under range and NOTHING is over $10. I will admit, I tried to limit myself to\u00a010 items. However, I found so many great items that I had to finally stop myself at 12. This proves that you don\u2019t need to break the bank to find some fantastic sensory\u00a0toys!<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><b>Inexpensive Sensory Toy Ideas<\/b><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><b>1. Koosh balls:<\/b> The classic. Chew necklaces:<\/b> OK, so this one is a bit more \u201ctherapy\u201d than toy. But I know I personally am lost if I am not wearing a sturdy necklace to fidget with throughout the day. I specifically chose the chew necklaces below because they looked more \u201cfun\u201d rather than \u201ctherapeutic\u201d. The idea is that the kiddo\u00a0just gets a cool necklace in his stocking, and doesn\u2019t realize that it is purposefully meant to be sturdy enough for fidgeting and chewing. Etch-a-sketch: <\/b>OK, I know this is a bit \u201cold school\u201d but my son just got one of these, and it has turned into hours of fun! It is the ultimate fidget toy between the twisty knobs and then shaking for erasing. Bonus? Silly putty or Theraputty (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B003YR4732?keywords=theraputty&amp;qid=1447679682&amp;ref_=sr_1_7&amp;sr=8-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<\/a>): <\/b>Take this squishy goodness and add beads or pennies to create \u201chidden treasures\u201d!<\/p><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Gwfr1mkSoz8\/VknLLGqt8qI\/AAAAAAAACng\/POY2wUyOsGc\/s1600\/theraputty.jpg\"><img src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Gwfr1mkSoz8\/VknLLGqt8qI\/AAAAAAAACng\/POY2wUyOsGc\/s200\/theraputty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"151\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div><div><p><b>5. Water Wiggles:<\/b> I love how kiddos gravitate toward these squishy things!<\/p><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-EPSU4DJNh3g\/VknGZRUBIbI\/AAAAAAAACms\/2YU89m3qOXI\/s1600\/water%2Bwiggle.png\"><img src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-EPSU4DJNh3g\/VknGZRUBIbI\/AAAAAAAACms\/2YU89m3qOXI\/s1600\/water%2Bwiggle.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><p><b>6. Light up toys: <\/b>This is another favorite in my sensory box. They also often come in a variety of cartoon characters and are often found in the dollar section at Target and Toys-R-Us.<\/div><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Y5HJL1K2jCk\/VknGw4G2KsI\/AAAAAAAACm8\/d6nDVvQJzZE\/s1600\/light%2Bup.png\"><img src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Y5HJL1K2jCk\/VknGw4G2KsI\/AAAAAAAACm8\/d6nDVvQJzZE\/s200\/light%2Bup.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"167\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><p><b>8. Wind up toys: <\/b>Yes, these wind up toys tend to be fragile, but they also work on fine motor skills as well. Win, Win!<\/p><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Iu-LfdSasK8\/VknF9YDwPtI\/AAAAAAAACmc\/vXbWEfVWRCw\/s1600\/time%2Btoy.png\"><img src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-Iu-LfdSasK8\/VknF9YDwPtI\/AAAAAAAACmc\/vXbWEfVWRCw\/s200\/time%2Btoy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"183\" height=\"200\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><p><b>9. Pin Art boards:<\/b> These can be prickly or soft, depending on how you touch them. Double fun!<\/p><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-VTtJ0ner8Mg\/VknHVykoloI\/AAAAAAAACnE\/NZ1bZVc7HnI\/s1600\/pins.png\"><img src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-VTtJ0ner8Mg\/VknHVykoloI\/AAAAAAAACnE\/NZ1bZVc7HnI\/s1600\/pins.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><p><b>10. Etch-a-sketch: <\/b>OK, I know this is a bit \u201cold school\u201d but my son just got one of these, and it has turned into hours of fun! It is the ultimate fidget toy between the twisty knobs and then shaking for erasing. Bonus? Our \u00bd sized Etch-a-sketch fits nicely in my purse so it works perfectly for restaurants and road trips.<\/p><div class=\"separator\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-HCnthQMtro4\/VknKHSG4hnI\/AAAAAAAACnQ\/CAkiF9tmQsA\/s1600\/etch%2Ba%2Bsketch.png\"><img src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-HCnthQMtro4\/VknKHSG4hnI\/AAAAAAAACnQ\/CAkiF9tmQsA\/s1600\/etch%2Ba%2Bsketch.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div><p><b>11. Pop tubes:<\/b> I will admit it. I don\u2019t get the appeal of these guys. But my sensory kiddos just gravitate toward them! Glitter wand tubes: <\/b>These water and glitter filled tubes are definitely stim-a-rific. In our family they also double for pretend play as we regularly switch from fairy godmothers to Harry Potter characters.
