Parenting Classes and resourcesThe Arkansas Center for Effective Parenting offers free classes at the Jones Center in Springdale. Class topics include the following: discipline, family communication, home to school transition, Hispanic parenting and more. phone: 479-751-6167

The Northwest Arkansas Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC) sponsored by the Arkansas Support Network serves families of children with disabilities ages birth through 26. CPRC has an extensive collection of parent resources, and these resources can be borrowed free of charge. Library titles include: “Believe in My Child with Special Needs!,” “Children and Divorce,” “Parent Effectiveness Training,” “Creating Balance in Your Child’s Life” and much more. phone: 479-927-4100

The Arkansas Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) is a statewide program operated through the Arkansas Disability Coalition. The center’s goal is to empower parents of children with disabilities (birth-26), focusing on parents’ roles as decision makers and advocates for their children’s educational needs. As PTI parent educator, Karen Lutrick supports and assists NWA families who are seeking educational services by means of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan. The Arkansas Family-2-Family Health Information Center, like the PTI Center, is an outreach of the Arkansas Disability Coalition. Missy Joyce provides regional Family-2-Family support in NWA. Arkansas Support Network’s Family Support Program provides flexible, individualized support for families. Lynn Donald serves as a parent trainer and program director in Northwest Arkansas.

Family Leadership Classes are offered through the Arkansas Developmental Disability Council (DDC). Free, informative classes are offered in Little Rock. Gas, hotel and meals are covered for those who are registered. Applications are available on-line.
