Feeding

disorders

The underlying cause of a feeding disorder can be complex. For example, a child may have weak oral-motor muscles, structural abnormalities, and /or negative associations with food due to allergies, acid reflux, or gastrointestinal discomfort.

Feeding challenges may be combined with sensory food aversions to new and unfamiliar textures and tastes. Our highly qualified, multi-disciplinary TEAM of therapists is well equipped to partner with families to problem-solve even the most complex and involved feeding and swallowing challenges.

positioning tips

Children with feeding disorders are often at an increased risk of airway obstruction due to potential aspiration of food or liquids. Children’s Therapy TEAM therapists work directly with parents and care providers to ensure proper positioning while feeding.
