We are thankful for our blessings.

Leading up to Thanksgiving, we counted our blessings at our TEAM Clinics… literally. When asked, What are you thankful for?” these are several of the common responses that topped the lists shared by our TEAM kids:

  • “I’m thankful for my family.”
  • “I’m thankful for God.”
  • “I’m thankful for my therapists.”
  • “I’m thankful for food.”
  • “I’m thankful for toys.”
  • “I’m thankful for my house.”
  • “I’m thankful for my friends.”
  • “I’m thankful for my school.”
  • “I’m thankful for life and love.”

We are thankful that kids are… kids!

You never know quite what kids will say. Period. That’s what makes working with kids so fun! Here are several other responses shared when we asked TEAM kids, “What are you thankful for?” We couldn’t resist sharing these responses!

  • “I’m thankful for the grocery store.”
  • “I’m thankful for working out.” (Our PT’s are really motivating this kiddo!)
  • “I’m thankful for butterflies.”
  • “I’m thankful for the ball pit.”
  • “I’m thankful for bull riding.”
  • “I’m thankful I can write my name.”
  • “I’m thankful for Butterball the craft turkey!” (This response begs the questions, “What’s that?” Keep reading. We will explain!)

We are thankful you can do anything with a cardboard box and construction paper!

Thanks to the creative efforts of TEAM OT Kelly Yates, a giant cardboard turkey, ‘Butterball the Craft Turkey’ did indeed stand tall leading up to Thanksgiving at TEAM’s Fayetteville Clinic. Let’s just say that when we see a cardboard box, we see endless possibilities!

Each clinic location had their own turkeys that served as fun conversation topics for kids and therapists leading up to Thanksgiving. Kids enjoyed stuffing the turkeys with notes about what they are thankful for. We enjoyed opening the boxes to reveal their heartfelt sentiments of joy and gratitude.
